Musical 'The Merchants of Bollywood' at Istana Budaya(Malaysia)


HIGHLY acclaimed musical 'The Merchants of Bollywood' is all set to take Malaysia by storm! With only two weeks left before the show, the excitement of Malaysian audiences who are ready to experience an exhilarating, energetic show is resulting in fast ticket sales. The high-octane musical extravaganza introduces a cast of 53, with 1,200 costume changes, 2,500 pieces of Indian jewellery as well as 40 years of Bollywood history wrapped up into 90 min utes of swirling colour, sparkle, shimmer and electrifying energy.
Based on the true life story of Vaibhavi Merchant, choreographer of the musical, The Merchants of Bollywood tells the tale of Ayesha Merchant, who is trained by her grandfather in Indian Classical dance, but is determined to make a name for herself in Bollywood, much to her grandfather's disapproval.
"The show is extremely interesting as it showcases the ability to amalgamate two different styles of dance - classical Indian and Western funk," said Abhishek Bachchan, son of Bollywood mega-star Amitabh Bachchan.
Featuring songs composed by Oscar-winning composer A. R. Rahman, the all-singing, all-dancing Bollywood musical has already been hailed as a spectacular success by audiences and critics in the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Germany, Australia and Milan.


The Merchants of Bollywood will be held from July 14 to 26 at the Istana Budaya.
